Whale Watching Dingle Ireland

Whale watching Dingle Ireland

Dingle’s waters are home to two species of whales mainly: the humpback whale and minke whales. Minke whales are a type of baleen whale, they can be as long as 35 feet and weight as much 20,000 tons.

The humpback whale is also a species of baleen whale. Adult humpbacks can range from 14 to 17 meters in length and can weight as much as 40 metric tons. These animals are gentle and non-aggressive, they regularly approach nearby boats which is why they are so well suited for whale watching. Dingle Ireland has become home to these two species because they follow large shoals of fish as a source of food down the coastline.

Although sightings are by no means guaranteed booking tours in late summer or early autumn will give you the best chance of a sighting.
